Hi there, I’m Koosje!

pronounced "Kōsha”

I’m an artist and creative entrepreneur living in the Netherlands. I love drawing and I do it every day. On this website, I hope to inspire you to develop a drawing practice too, because it can make you feel good.

Stop fearing the blank page

Stop fearing the blank page

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!

Starting a new sketchbook can feel exciting… and a little intimidating. All those blank pages waiting to be filled!

In this week’s Draw Tip Tuesday, I share my go-to ritual for getting started: drawing my own hands as they draw.

It’s simple, playful, and helps you ease into a new book without overthinking. I also talk about the inner critic that often shows up at the beginning of the creative process, and how you can learn to quiet that voice and just draw.

Materials used in this video:

  • Hahnemühle Nostalgie sketchbook, size A4

  • Sailor Fude fountain pen (55° nib) with Platinum Carbon Black ink

  • Daniel Smith watercolors

  • Pentel Aquash waterbrush

This week’s assignment:

Draw your own drawing hand! It might feel awkward at first, but give it a try.
You’ll be surprised at how fun and freeing it can be.

If you’ve read my book Life Is Better When You Draw It, this video touches on the chapter Voices in Your Head . A reminder that even your inner critic is part of the process.
