Hi there, I’m Koosje!

pronounced "Kōsha”

I’m an artist and creative entrepreneur living in the Netherlands. I love drawing and I do it every day. On this website, I hope to inspire you to develop a drawing practice too, because it can make you feel good.

A Small Sketchbook Full of Big Ideas

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!

Your sketchbook can teach you a lot, not just about drawing but also about how you see, what you enjoy, and how you respond to the unexpected.

In today's video, I share a flipthrough of my A6 Hahnemühle Nostalgie sketchbook. It's filled with quick sketches, experiments, and unexpected moments.

You’ll see pages from National Urban Sketchers Day in my town, Amersfoort, the Netherlands, market sketches, travel drawings, black-and-white experiments, limited palette play, and even how I handle it when a subject disappears halfway through a drawing.

Along the way I talk about what this little book taught me: the joy of working small, the creative spark that comes from limitations and going with the flow.

Pro tip that you can use right away to make your own sketchbook practice easier, lighter, and more fun:
Next time you're waiting or walking or just sitting with a coffee, pull out your sketchbook. You’ll notice more. You’ll learn more. And you might surprise yourself.

Today's video is a reminder that working small can feel light and easy, that limitations can be exciting, and that you really don't need much time or gear to create a page you love.

Everything is interesting when you draw it!

Find Raul Budusan here (I apologize because I completely slaughtered his name as I was recording my voice-over! It's Raul, not Paul - and I know it, but still I read it wrong out loud)
