Hi there, I’m Koosje!

pronounced "Kōsha”

I’m an artist and creative entrepreneur living in the Netherlands. I love drawing and I do it every day. On this website, I hope to inspire you to develop a drawing practice too, because it can make you feel good.

This is why you should sketch while traveling

Traveling often comes with the feeling that there is simply no time to draw. New places to see, people to be with, things to do. But trust me, there is almost always a window of time.
Even 15 minutes is enough to create something meaningful.

I made this video from my temporary apartment in Paris to prove exactly that. Before heading out the door, I sat down with my sketchbook and drew the view right in front of me. Which I think was kind of spectacular, or at least very different from my regular view at home.

While I draw, I share tips on how to fit sketching into even the busiest travel days.
A big part of making that happen is learning to recognize the voice that tells you there is not enough time, not the right materials, not the right subject.
Become aware that this chatter is the inner critic. But your inner artist speaks up too. Not as loud, but it's there, and it is the more reliable voice. Trust it.

Drawing while traveling is one of the best ways to document a place.
When you look back at a sketch years later, the memory comes back surprisingly vivid. It's because you were truly present and you really looked. Your experience is much deeper than what a photo can capture.
