How I Fill My Travel Sketchbooks
Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
Here’s my latest sketchbook tour video!
This sketchbook is filled almost entirely during my recent Spain trip with The Blue Walk. Barcelona, Costa Brava, teaching, drawing in cafes,on beaches and airports. This book holds so many memories and tiny stories and I loved going through it again.
Your sketchbook really can be a travel companion and honestly just a life companion.
It keeps things playful, curious and a little magical. Whether at home or far away, drawing makes everything feel more alive and interesting. In today’s video I talk about the spiral technique again and the blob technique, and how fun it is to experiment with color, gesture, quick people, continuous line, and little moments that would otherwise just pass by. It was so much fun to fill this book along with the participants during the workshop trip.
Sketchbook shown in this video: Hahnemühle Nostalgie sketchbook A4.
Watch me demo the spiral technique.
You can join me in Italy for an awesome workshop trip in 2026! Get all info here.
