Hi there, I’m Koosje!

pronounced "Kōsha”

I’m an artist and creative entrepreneur living in the Netherlands. I love drawing and I do it every day. On this website, I hope to inspire you to develop a drawing practice too, because it can make you feel good.

Drawing Paris Street Corners Without Leaving Home

Drawing Paris Street Corners Without Leaving Home

Let's go urban sketching for Today's Draw Tip Tuesday. In Paris!

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!

Let's visit a Parisian street corner using Google Street View.
I’ll show how to pick an interesting spot (without overthinking it!). Then to translate the scene into a lively sketch.

You only need a few tools.
Limited tools keep you flexible, and that's exactly what we need for urban sketching. Even when we do it from the comfort of our own home.

Today I tackle drawing buildings, people passing by, mixing grey tones, and using some bright color accents.

Materials I used

  • Stillman & Birn Beta sketchbook (8.5 × 5.5 inch)

  • Sailor DeMannen fountain pen with a fude nib, loaded with Platinum Carbon Black ink.

  • Daniel Smith watercolors (reds, indigo, Van Dyke brown).

  • Waterbrush pen (size: broad) and a tissue for cleaning.

  • A dream location on Google Street View

Speaking of dream locations...

I'll be in Paris in person again, in September. To co-teach the workshop Paris Sketchbook with Cynthia Morris and Marcus McAllistar! When you join us, you will deepen your creativity, broaden your skills, and get to be an artist in Paris! Reserve your spot now.
