Working on Projects and Series

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!

Let's think about projects! I use my sketchbook as a visual diary, and it gives me ideas to start projects and challenges for myself.
For example, when drawing on location, I get frustrated when I want to add animals (like dogs and birds outside and pets), because I suck at it. So I decided to take the month of November to practice.
I challenged myself to draw moving animals. I learned to draw people by doing, so I should be able to learn animals the same way, right?

I'll show you the drawings I did during that month of animals. Some of them I love, others not so much, and I show them all in this video. I learned a lot by doing these (almost) daily exercises.

I'll show you other projects I did, that led into gaining a lot of skills on the iPad, as well as an idea for a product.

What project can you start?
Maybe it's something you work on for a month, or perhaps it'll be something you can dip into whenever you like, and you take the whole year for it. You might end up with a fun series or collection! Plus you will have learned so much when you're done.

Make the project accessible, and doable. There should be a little bit of a challenge in there, but it shouldn't be too hard, or become a chore. I'm showing you projects I've done on the iPad, but of course you can use a sketchbook for your project. Or hand-craft greeting cards. Draw portraits of your family and friends. Draw all of your shoes. Illustrate your grandmother's recipes... Whatever excites you!

I hope you'll get an idea from this, and maybe by the end of 2022 you'll have finished your project, or even more than one!
